I am currently in the process of changing both my brake and clutch master cylinders. As you know brake fluid does a number on painted metal and I have some serious surface rust to deal with. My plan I'm putting together (if approved) is to get the area down to bare metal and then treat with a solution called OSPHO: [ http://www.ospho.com/ ]And then (since I have two cans at home) coat with Krylon Rust Tough Enamel as primer and base coat: [ http://www.krylon.com/products/rust_tough_rust_preventative_enamel/ ] The ospho instructions are to remove most of the rust (ill remove every spec) and then coat with the solution. But Im no suppose to wash it off. Its suppose to harden like a bonding and protecting coating. So let me know at you guys think and what yourself and other have done to keep their cars from rusting away. I wish I could order some OEM paint for my car in a spray can but I dont think they will allow them on planes.
